We offer activities for all types of explorers!
Our activities offer different levels of adventure, a few examples…
Dog sledding under the star-filled skies with dancing northern lights or glittering moonlight – an experience you should not miss! Lean back in the sled and let the dogs take you into the wilderness. After the tour, you get to meet the cutest litter of puppies. December to mid-February // 4 hours // from 6 years // degree of difficulty – average physical fitness.
Dog sledding to the ice cave – two unique experiences in one! We start by going through Bolterdalen in an easy terrain. As we approach the glacier, we will enjoy a little more up and down between the moraine formations. When we arrive at the Scott Turner Glacier, the dogs will rest while you get to experience a magical world of ice underneath the surface. January to June // 7 hours // from 8 years // degree of difficulty – average physical fitness.
A northern lights safari on an electric snowmobile – a unique and fun way to hunt for the light. Engine noise is negligent, as it is 100% powered by electricity. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy ‘the arctic silence’. The trip is about 40 km and we drive in easy, mostly flat terrain. December to mid-March // 3 hours // from 8 years // degree of difficulty – suitable for most.
Wilderness safari on an electric snowmobile – the perfect tour if you want to ‘get a taste’ of snowmobiling. The tour goes in Adventdalen and we explore the beautiful valley. We often see reindeers and you will learn about their life in this harsh climate. February to mid-May // 3 hours // from 8 years // degree of difficulty – suitable for most.
Tempelfjorden snowmobile safari – the perfect tour for those who do not have a lot of snowmobile experience, but would like to experience a whole day in the saddle and to head far from Longyearbyen and into the wilderness. The goal for the tour is Fredheim, the hunting base of the legendary trapper, Hilmar Nøis. A stunning tour through typical Svalbard landscapes, the views in Tempelfjorden are something special! Mid-January to mid-May // 7 hours // from 14 years // degree of difficulty – suitable for most.
A northern lights safari with a snowcat – the perfect excursion if you wish to leave the town in a more comfortable way. We will drive out over the frozen valley Adventdalen, with several stops along the way to look for the northern lights. This is a very family friendly tour. Even if you sit inside the snow cat, it can be really cold, especially when we stop. We advise you to dress warmly, so you get the best experience. December to mid-March // 2,5 hours // from 2 years // degree of difficulty – suitable for most.
Ice cave tour with a snowcat – a frozen world appears as you make your way down into the ice cave. Experience the silence of the underground world of ice and snow and see the beautiful art made from mother nature. The trip up and down to the ice cave is by snowcat. February to mid-May // 3 hours // from 6 years // degree of difficulty – average physical fitness.
Northern lights evening at Camp Barentz – a very special evening at this wilderness camp. Enjoy the crackling open fire, food and drinks and a lecture about the northern lights. With some luck, you will see the magic light show outside the cabin. Although this is an indoor activity, we recommend comfortable outdoor clothing and warm shoes. In case there is activity on the sky, we will go outside of course! October to mid-March // 3 hours // from 8 years // degree of difficulty – suitable for most.
Visit the coal mine – an exciting tour which will give you a taste of the old days in Longyearbyen as well as see how the space has been repurposed since the mine’s closure. At Mine 3, you will walk through the facilities where the machinery and equipment were left behind when production stopped. Each of you will be kitted with a helmet, headlamp and coverall, ready to begin your mining adventure. All year // 3 hours // from 8 years // degree of difficulty – suitable for most.
