Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen – The hotel was refurbished in February 2019 and boasts fantastic food, an informal feel and impressive views. A modern, Polar focus was the backdrop for the renovation of all guest rooms. A terrace area has been added to the hotel, with hot tubs for the enjoyment of hotel guests. The hotel lies in the heart of Longyearbyen with a fantastic outlook towards towering mountains, Arctic tundra and the colourful town. Here you can relax in the sauna and later share the day’s experiences in front of the fire before dinner. This Radisson Blu hotel offers double and twin rooms of a high standard and also has suites with sitting area and views over the fjord. Spacious junior suites with sitting areas are situated in the neighboring building. The hotel reception is manned 24 hours a day, and the helpful front office team are on hand to ensure every guest’s stay is memorable. The breakfast that is included in all room rates is served in the restaurant, which also offers an impressive lunch and dinner menu. The hotel is also home to Barentz Gastropub, where you can enjoy a light meal and an impressive selection of local and international beers.
Huset – The food in the restaurant is characterized by Nordic techniques and tasting combinations, with ingredients coming mainly from Svalbard and the arctic region. Huset serves a regularly changing 12 course tasting menu with wine pairing by their expert sommeliers. The tasting menu can be prebooked. Huset has one of Scandinavia’s largest wine cellars with over 15.000 bottles. Huset’s wine list has since 2006 been awarded “Best of Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator. A “Wine Glass” rating, from Wine Spectator has the same status in the world of wine as Michelin stars has within fine dining. Wine Spectator awards one, two or three glass- es of wine around the world to distinguish themselves. Huset prides itself with its current “Two Wine Glass” rating. Huset offers set tastings as well as tailored tastings after your own preferences. You will be served Huset’s wonderful tasting menu in their private cellar with your own sommelier.
Funktionærmessen – This restaurant at Funken Lodge is considered one of the most elegant places to dine in Svalbard. Enjoy a culinary journey of delicious food and drinks, while admiring the stunning view over Longyearbyen. The kitchen presents intriguing flavour combinations inspired by an international cuisine. Guests can enjoy a sensational 3 or 6 course menu or choose from our a la carte selection and signature dishes. The set menus can be prebooked. The wine list rises to all occasions and contains a solid palette of wine from a broad selection of producers. Consult the sommelier to find the perfect glass to complement your meal. As the only specialized cocktail bar in Longyearbyen, Funken Bar offers a broad selection of first-class spirits and decorative drinks. You can also choose interesting vintage wines from the extensive wine list or try a glass from the unique selection of Champagne. The bar menu offers a lovely selection of smaller dishes, made of high-quality ingredients. Great for a cosy lunch or a lighter dinner. Funken Bar is a serene place to relax in between activities and excursions. In the lounge you will find an extensive selection of polar literature, cuddle up in front of the fireplace and make a literary journey back in time to Nansen, Amundsen and other brave polar explorers. Intimate wine and champagne tasting are possible in the extensive wine cellars below the hotel.
Nansen Restaurant – A chic spot with delightful Nordic Fusion dishes in a warm and inviting environment at the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen. Explore the intriguing menu influenced by Nordic regions. High-quality cuts of meat, fish from the Arctic and an exclusive selection of side dishes; all this whilst enjoying the stunning views of Longyearbyen’s famous mountain backdrop. The carefully executed à la carte menu allows you to pair high-quality meat cuts with a great selection of side dishes and sauces. You can also choose between exquisite fish and meat preparations, as well as vegetarian alternatives. Complement your meal with a drink from the plentiful selection of both local and imported beverages. Barentz Gastropub have thrown themselves into the competition for Svalbard’s best pizza and the menu is full of delicious burgers and sandwiches that will warm you straight back up after a long day out and about. The drinks menu includes a custom-made Barentz Arctic Pale Ale, by Svalbard Brewery, in addition to a variety of specialty beers from northern Norway. The atmosphere is relaxed and the cosy seating encourage great conversations with friends and locals.
Coal Miners’ Bar & Grill – A relaxed atmosphere, comfortable armchairs and hearty foods are just of few of the things they have on offer in the old ‘stormessa’ the miners’ mess hall. The chefs prepare all of the meals on a charcoal grill and are proud of their varied offering with delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes, in addition to their famous burgers and bread bowl fondue. The mess hall opened in 1948 and it was here the miners’ meals were served. Today, a meal at Coal Miners’ Bar & Grill is perfect for the modern explorer after a long day out in the wilds of Svalbard.
Willems Cabin – We invite you for an exclusive evening with a private chef and host to enjoy a gourmet meal in a very special cabin, right in the middle of the Arctic wilderness. Dinners here are served as a 6 course tasting menu created with exceptional flavors and including locally sourced meats, giving a true taste of the Arctic. To complement your meal, our knowledgeable sommeliers can create the perfect pairing for the event. Recommended for private groups up to 14 persons.
